Showket Ahmad

Showket Ahmad is a senior ski trainer and alpine instructor with more than twelve years at the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) in Gulmarg. That is not a weekend certificate. It is a working life on Himalayan alpine powder, teaching beginners through advanced skiers with an eye for technical precision, mountain safety and how an athlete actually improves.

His days cover comprehensive ski training — fundamentals and high-level alpine technique — plus avalanche awareness: weather, snowpack, risk, and rescue. He advises on gear selection, fit, maintenance and the small adjustments that change how a ski behaves. On the hill he moves groups through groomed runs and off-piste Gulmarg with the calm of someone who has seen the season’s moods.

Core strengths are alpine skiing, slope safety, technical coaching, equipment fitting, off-piste navigation, first aid and group leadership.
