Umar Ahmad Lone

Umar Ahmad Lone, known as Roy, is Head Trainer for snowboarding at Himalayan Ibex. He leads technical alpine instruction and outdoor sessions for guests who want a board under their feet — first day, intermediate refinement, or advanced mountain riding.

He has completed professional snowboarding certifications at basic, intermediate and advanced levels, and holds gold medals in all three tiers. That is a training record, not a marketing line: Gold Medalist — Basic, Intermediate and Advance courses. He also works as a proficient, certified trainer in waterskiing, which says something about how he thinks about edge, balance and water — frozen or not.

On snow he is the person who will spend the extra run on a heel-side catch instead of dragging the group toward terrain they have not earned. Himalayan Ibex guests who choose snowboarding as their winter language meet Roy as the head of that craft inside the school.
